The honest answer first: on our approved product list, De’Longhi’s countertop ovens are convection ovens, not steam ovens. The best De’Longhi for convection baking is the De’Longhi Livenza 0.8 cu ft True European Convection Oven, and the best for people who also want an air fry mode is the De’Longhi 10-in-1 24L Digital AirFryer. If you specifically want steam as well, the closest options are rival combi ovens, and the most approachable is the Cuisinart CSO-300N Convection Steam Oven. We rank De’Longhi first where it fits and label every rival clearly.

Key specs (listing): 0.8 cu ft, stainless steel, digital controls, true European convection. A review site reports eight presets and a claim of cooking up to 40 percent faster and more evenly than standard heat; treat that as a manufacturer-style claim.

Best for: bakers, roasters and anyone who wants a convection oven without air frying. Skip if: you want steam or an air fry basket.

This is the De’Longhi that most closely matches the word convection in your search. A true convection oven, in the European style, uses a heating element around the fan so that hot air is circulated through the whole cavity. For baking cookies, roasting vegetables or cooking a small tray of chicken, that even circulation is more important than any number of presets. At 0.8 cu ft it is large enough for a 12-inch pizza and many 9×13 dishes.

What it does not do is generate steam. If you want to proof bread, bake with a humid chamber or reheat leftovers without drying them, you will need a different class of appliance (see picks 3 to 7).

Where it fits against the rest of this list: it is the lowest-cost route to even baking from a brand with a long history in small ovens. Compared with the 24 L model in the next entry, you give up the air fry mode and the internal light, and you gain a simpler, more traditional oven that is easy to clean. Compared with the steam ovens further down, you give up humidity control but also avoid the reservoir, the descaling routine and the extra counter footprint that steam brings. For a household that mainly bakes, roasts and reheats, that simplicity is often the better trade.

One practical note on convection baking: most recipes written for a conventional oven suggest lowering the temperature slightly or shortening the time when you use a fan. Start by checking the food a little earlier than the recipe says, and adjust from there for your particular oven.

Pros:

  • True European convection
  • Digital controls
  • Large enough for most family bakes

Cons:

  • No steam
  • No air fry mode

2. De’Longhi 10-in-1 24L Digital AirFryer: Best De’Longhi With Air Fry

Key specs (listing): 24 L, 10-in-1, true convection, internal light, preset for cookies and pizza, 1800 W, stainless steel. Published descriptions mention a double glass door that emits up to 50 percent less heat.

Best for: households that want convection baking and air frying in one box. Skip if: steam is a requirement.

If the first pick is the pure baker, this is the all-rounder. It keeps the true convection cavity and adds an air fry mode, a light so you can check browning, and presets for pizza and cookies. Its 24 L capacity is roughly the same class as the 0.8 cu ft model above, so you gain functions rather than space.

For many buyers, this is the best way to get close to a combi oven without paying for one: the fan-driven heat browns quickly and the air fry mode crisps. What you give up is humidity control, so bread crusts and moist reheating will behave like they do in any dry convection oven.

Think of this as the bridge between plain convection and a combi oven. It will not steam, but its fan-driven heat, light and presets make baking and roasting more predictable, and its air fry mode handles the crisping jobs that a regular convection oven does slowly. If you are on the fence about steam, using this oven for a few months can show you how much you miss moisture control before you commit to a more expensive appliance.

For care, remove the crumb tray regularly, wash the racks and tray with warm soapy water and wipe the cavity with a soft cloth. Check the manual before using spray cleaners on the interior coating.

Pros:

  • Convection plus air fry
  • Internal light
  • Presets for cookies and pizza

Cons:

  • No steam
  • Premium price tier

Key specs: a countertop convection steam oven. Roundups list it at 0.60 cu ft with a 47 oz water reservoir. Other specifications are not listed in the title.

Best for: a first steam oven, couples and small families. Skip if: you cook for four or more at once.

The CSO-300N turns up as the most frequent best-overall or beginner pick in countertop steam oven roundups, and a specialist review site calls it the easiest to operate. The idea is simple: add water to the reservoir, choose steam or convection or a combination, and the oven handles the rest. That makes it a sensible next step from a De’Longhi convection oven for a cook who wants steamed vegetables, fish, reheated bread and better crusts.

The trade-off is size. Roundups note that the cavity struggles to feed more than a couple of people, so think of it as a two-person appliance.

The Cuisinart earns its place by being a true steam oven at an approachable level of complexity. Steam ovens often intimidate buyers with presets and app controls, and the roundups that favour this model say that its operation is the easiest of the category. In practice, that means you can steam vegetables or fish, refresh day-old bread and roast with a short steam burst without learning a long menu of programs.

The things to weigh are capacity and water handling. At around 0.60 cu ft per roundups, it suits one or two people; larger households will end up cooking in batches. As with any steam oven, plan to use the water type the manual specifies and to empty and dry the reservoir regularly.

Compared with the De’Longhi ovens above, this is the pick for someone who knows that they want steam and does not want to spend more than they have to on features they will not use.

Pros:

  • True steam plus convection
  • Reputation for simple controls

Cons:

  • Compact cavity
  • Premium price tier

Key specs (listing): 20 L, 6-in-1, convection steam and bake, ferment, air fryer, slow cook, app control, 36 presets, steam cleaning.

Best for: tech-comfortable cooks in small kitchens. Skip if: you dislike apps or want a big cavity.

This model packs steam, convection, fermenting, air frying and slow cooking into a 20 L body. The 36 presets and app control make it a good match for people who like to follow a recipe step by step. The steam cleaning function is useful because steam ovens need to be descaled and wiped regularly.

The Toshiba is the most tech-forward option of the compact class. Its listing mentions a 20 L cavity, convection steam and bake, fermenting, air frying and slow cooking, plus 36 preset menus and app control. For someone who likes following guided recipes, the app and presets reduce the learning curve, and the ferment function is useful for yoghurt and dough.

The compromise is size and dependence on software. A 20 L cavity cannot take a large roasting tin, and features such as recipe updates rely on the app. Steam cleaning is a welcome extra because it eases the upkeep that steam ovens demand.

Compared with the 24 L De’Longhi, it offers less room but adds steam and connectivity; the De’Longhi, in turn, offers a larger cavity and simpler dials.

Pros:

  • Smart control
  • Steam cleaning mode

Cons:

  • Small cavity
  • Depends on app features

Key specs (listing): 25.4 qt, 12-in-1, rapid steam and steam bake, air fry, dehydrate, ferment, self-clean, delay start.

Best for: buyers who want steam, air fry and a larger cavity at a lower cost tier. Skip if: brand history is important to you.

The CIARRA offers the widest function list of our steam picks while keeping a larger capacity than the Cuisinart and Toshiba. Delay start and self-clean add convenience. The brand is newer in the oven market, so rely on the maker’s warranty terms and read recent reviews before you buy.

The CIARRA is the value play among steam-capable ovens. Its listing combines rapid steam and steam bake with air frying, dehydrating and fermenting in a 25.4 qt cavity that is larger than the Cuisinart and Toshiba. Delay start lets you set a bake to finish when you get home, and self-clean reduces the chore of scrubbing.

The caution is brand maturity. The company is newer in the oven market than Cuisinart, Toshiba or De’Longhi, so read the warranty terms and recent owner feedback before you commit, and confirm where service is available. If you want the most capability for the least outlay and are comfortable with that trade-off, it is the one to look at.

Pros:

  • Large 25.4 qt cavity
  • Steam plus air fry

Cons:

  • Newer brand
  • Many functions to learn

Key specs (listing): 1.1 cu ft, 4-in-1 combi-steam oven with steam-bake, air fry, convection, dehydrator, and 50 preset menus.

Best for: serious home cooks who want real combi-steam capacity. Skip if: you have limited counter space.

At 1.1 cu ft this is the largest steam-capable cavity on our list, and a steam and bake mode is what separates a combi oven from a convection oven with a steam tray. A specialist roundup reviews the ChefCubii among its eight countertop picks, but the price tier and size are significant.

The ChefCubii sits at the serious end of the countertop class. A 1.1 cu ft cavity is large enough to treat as a second oven, and steam-bake mode, convection and air fry with 50 presets give it the flexibility to replace several devices. A specialist roundup that reviews it among eight countertop steam ovens lists it at a premium price tier, which is the main reason to hesitate.

It also needs space. A large steam oven needs clearance for the door and ventilation for escaping vapour, so check your counter and cabinet before ordering. If you cook for a family and want steam as a core technique rather than an occasional extra, this is the sort of oven that justifies its size.

Pros:

  • Biggest cavity
  • Steam-bake and 50 presets

Cons:

  • Premium price tier
  • Large footprint

Key specs (listing): countertop combi oven with grill, air fry, steam, bake, convection, defrost and warm, 10 cooking functions, made in Italy. Capacity is not listed.

Best for: design-conscious buyers who want the De’Longhi Italian look with steam. Skip if: you are watching your budget.

SMEG is the only Italian rival here that matches De’Longhi on style, and it adds steam to a combi package. It sits at the top of the cost range, so it is a lifestyle purchase as much as a functional one.

The SMEG COF01 is for buyers who want the look of an Italian designer appliance. The listing describes ten cooking functions that include steam, air fry, convection, grill, defrost and warm. It is not listed with a capacity in the title, so confirm internal dimensions on the live page before you buy, especially if you plan to cook for more than two.

Because it is at the top of the price range, treat it as a statement piece that also cooks well rather than as a value choice. If your priority is performance per dollar, the Cuisinart, CIARRA and Toshiba are easier to justify; if you want the matching look of a premium kitchen and steam capability, the SMEG is the one that delivers both.

Pros:

  • 10 cooking functions with steam
  • Distinctive design

Cons:

  • Flagship price tier
  • Capacity not listed

How We Chose

This list is built from research, not from our own use. We searched for De’Longhi convection and steam ovens, found that De’Longhi’s current ovens on our product list are convection and air fry models rather than steam, and then added the best-known steam and combi ovens as labelled alternatives. We compared capacity, convection description, steam capability, number of presets, control style and cleaning features using listing text, manufacturer pages and specialist reviews. Where a source did not give a number, we say not listed. Several roundup sites are low-quality aggregators, so we weighted specialist sources more heavily.

Buying Guide

Convection versus steam versus combi

Convection ovens move dry hot air for even browning. Steam ovens add water vapour, which keeps food moist and helps crust development on bread. Combi ovens combine the two. If your main goals are baking and roasting, a De’Longhi convection oven is enough; if you want to reheat without drying or to bake bread with a better crust, look at a steam or combi oven.

Capacity thresholds

Cavity Suits Examples
0.5 to 0.6 cu ft 1 to 2 people Livenza Compact, Cuisinart CSO-300N
0.8 cu ft / 24 L 3 to 5 people De’Longhi Livenza 0.8, De’Longhi 10-in-1 24L
1.0 cu ft and up Large families, entertaining FOTILE ChefCubii

Water and descaling

Steam ovens need a water reservoir and regular descaling. Hard water leaves mineral deposits that can cause faults, so follow the manual for the type of water and descaler to use. Many makers recommend filtered or softened water.

Controls

Dials are fast and tactile; touchscreens and apps provide presets and recipe guidance. Decide whether you want simple De’Longhi-style dials or the extra program lists of the Toshiba and Fotile.

Cleaning

Look for a self-clean or steam clean mode, a smooth interior and removable racks. Wipe the cavity after steam cooking to prevent mineral spots.

Counter space and ventilation

Measure with the door open and leave the clearance the manual asks for. Steam ovens release vapour, so avoid placing them directly under cabinets.

Convection vs Steam: Which Do You Need?

If you bake cookies, roast vegetables and cook chicken, a convection oven covers nearly every task, and De’Longhi has several options. If you reheat pizza, steam fish, proof dough or bake crusty loaves, a steam or combi oven earns its place. If you are undecided, the 24 L De’Longhi with air fry is a flexible middle path, and the best toaster ovens and air fryer ovens for large families guides on this site will help you compare. If steaming is mostly for vegetables, a dedicated electric food steamer may be cheaper, and a simple steamer basket costs less still.

Who Should Skip a Steam Oven

Skip a steam oven if you only bake occasionally, if counter space is tight or if you will not keep up with descaling. The extra reservoir, steam generator and maintenance are worthwhile only if you will use steam at least weekly.

What Each Oven Type Does Best

The quickest way to decide between a De’Longhi convection oven and a steam or combi oven is to list what you actually cook. The table below maps common jobs to the oven type that handles them best, based on how each technology works rather than on any one model.

Task Convection only (De’Longhi) Convection plus air fry Steam or combi
Cookies and cakes Excellent: even browning Excellent Good: steam is usually not needed
Roast vegetables and chicken Very good Very good, crisper skin Very good: moister inside
Frozen snacks and wings Fair Best Good if air fry is included
Reheating pizza and bread Good but can dry out Good Best: steam refreshes the crumb
Fish, vegetables, dumplings Not suitable Not suitable Best: gentle steam
Crusty bread Fair Fair Best with steam-bake
Proofing dough Limited Limited Good where a ferment mode is listed

The pattern is clear. De’Longhi’s convection ovens cover most everyday baking and roasting. The air fry model adds crisping. Steam only matters if the bottom three rows describe your week.

How Steam Changes the Way You Cook

Steam carries heat much more efficiently than dry air, so food heats quickly and keeps its moisture. In a combi oven, steam is injected during part or all of the cycle. At the start of a bake, it keeps the surface of dough soft so that the loaf can expand before the crust sets, which is why combi ovens bake bread with a better rise and shine. In roasting, a short burst of steam helps meat stay juicy, then dry heat browns the outside. For reheating, steam restores moisture that a dry oven would drive off.

Not all products use the same method. Some feed water from a tank into a generator, while others use a tray or a built-in boiler. The Cuisinart roundups mention a 47 oz reservoir, while others, such as the Toshiba and Ciarra, advertise steam cleaning or rapid steam. Because specifications differ, always read the listing and manual for water type, tank size and descaling advice.

Running and Caring for a Steam Oven

A steam oven asks a little more of its owner than a toaster oven. Fill the reservoir with the water type the maker specifies, usually clean or filtered water, and empty it after use if the manual says so. Wipe condensation from the cavity and door seal once the oven has cooled, and leave the door ajar so the interior can dry. Descale on the schedule in the manual, as scale in a steam generator can reduce performance. Our guide to electric food steamers gives a sense of the maintenance involved, since the same principles apply.

Convection ovens, including the De’Longhi models above, need only a wipe of the cavity and a wash of the racks and trays. That simplicity is one of the strongest arguments for staying with convection if you do not need steam.

De’Longhi Convection Models Compared

Model Size (as listed) Air fry Standout feature Choose it if
Livenza 0.8 cu ft 0.8 cu ft No True European convection, digital controls You bake and roast
10-in-1 24L 24 L Yes Internal light, pizza and cookie presets You want one oven for everything dry
Livenza Compact 0.5 cu ft Not listed Digital compact body Counter space is tight
RO2058 6-slice No Rotisserie You want rotisserie chicken
AD679 Airstream Not listed No Digital convection with broiler You want an older style

Mistakes to Avoid

  • Expecting steam from a convection oven. The words convection and steam are often searched together, but De’Longhi’s ovens here do not make steam.
  • Buying by cubic feet alone. Usable rack space and height matter as much as the headline number.
  • Ignoring the water supply. A steam oven that is never descaled will eventually lose performance.
  • Overloading the rack. Convection needs space for air to move.
  • Skipping the manual. Rack positions, foil guidance and water type are model specific.

FAQ

Does De’Longhi make a steam oven?

Not on our approved list. The De’Longhi ovens we found are convection and air fry models, so a steam oven means choosing another brand.

What is true European convection?

It is a convection system in which a heating element surrounds the fan so that hot air circulates evenly through the cavity, helping food brown and cook evenly.

Is a convection oven the same as an air fryer?

Not quite. An air fryer uses a stronger fan and a perforated tray to crisp food. Some ovens, such as the 24 L De’Longhi, offer both.

Is a steam oven worth it?

It is worth it if you steam, reheat or bake bread regularly. Otherwise a convection oven is simpler and cheaper to maintain.

Do steam ovens need special water?

Follow the manual. Many makers advise filtered or softened water to limit scale, and descaling is required periodically.

How big a convection oven do I need?

About 0.5 cu ft for one or two people, 0.8 cu ft for families of three to five, and 1 cu ft or more for entertaining.

Can I use foil in a convection oven?

Often yes in small amounts, but keep it away from the heating elements and fan and follow your manual.

Which One Should You Buy?

For baking and roasting without steam, buy the De’Longhi Livenza 0.8 cu ft. For convection plus air fry, buy the De’Longhi 10-in-1 24L. If steam is the goal, start with the Cuisinart CSO-300N for simplicity, the Toshiba for a compact smart model, the CIARRA for a mid-range steam and air fry oven, the FOTILE for the biggest cavity, or the SMEG if design matters most.
